Tune of the Week // runaway [Go] – Ashes

RunawayGoIt’s been a while since we heard from Belfast based, runaway [Go]. Over the past year or so the band have been working on their debut album, ‘Alive’. As well as announcing the track listing for the album, they’ve also announced a new single, Ashes.

The track features the trademark runaway [Go] twin lead vocal of Fiona O’Kane and Dave Jackson. One reason that the announcement of a new single / album took a little extra time could be put down to the success of Fiona O’Kane’s solo project.

Her cover of ‘I Can’t Help Myself’, was used in Durex’s Earth Hour advert and the track got a lot of radioplay and interest from that.

That kind of publicity can never harm, especially when your band is about to launch their debut album. runaway [Go] have independently released six singles before the album announcement, a couple make the album shakedown.

The Album Tracklisting;

1. Ashes
2. Lover to Lover
3. Lightning
4. Alive
5. Crawl
6. I’ll Still Love You
7. Kite
8. Delicate Man
9. Home To The Clouds

Ashes is a great single to start an album campaign with. Besides, runaway [Go] bridging the pop/indie gap with soaring anthemic songs, the lyrics of Ashes is about new starts, leaving the past behind and getting on with life and making it all happen, starting today.

Uplifting and something we probably could all live by. This week’s Tune of the Week.
