I’m going to hold my hands up. I don’t know anything of Old Hannah’s back catalogue.
Tune of the Week // Old Hannah – Follow
The band, Anthony Mannion, Lucie Crichlow, Luke Mercer and Leo Morris have been playing together since 2013 and have released a couple of EPs. Old Hannah have also opened for people like Lisa Hannigan and Sheryl Crow. I don’t know what these sound like.
All I know is that ‘Borealis’ is their forthcoming album from which ‘Follow’ is taken and it’s a lot different to their earlier material.
Follow is a very special song. Lucie Crichlow’s vocals entice you into the story of ‘Follow’, as it builds to the refrain. Once we get to the refrain we’re treated to harmonies Fleetwood Mac would be proud of. Musicianship and production on the track are a gift for the ears and envelop the listener in almost four minutes of bliss. Plus, I’m a sucker for a banjo.
If this is very different to previously released material, the band are most definitely on the right path. May it be a long a fruitful journey.
The band will have a launch party for ‘Follow’ on March 15th in The Grand Social in Dublin.
