Hidden Gem // Ben Oakley Gallery, Greenwich

It’s a Saturday afternoon and myself and Talulah decide to get out of the house for a while. Living in SE13 in London, we took the short trip to Lewisham and the DLR to Greenwich. Tip for you, if you want to go to Greenwich at the weekend, go on a Saturday. Sundays are always jammed and it’s just too busy for me.

Anyway, we arrive in Greenwich and get a bite to eat in Greenwich Market. Afterwards, we go for a wander down some side alleys off the market. We walked down Turnpin Lane and were pleasantly surprised to find ‘Ben Oakley Gallery’.

It’s a small gallery, where the art works speak for themselves. There’s nothing grand or too fancy about this place, to be honest, this is a welcome relief. The vibe, the boho interior and the welcoming chat from Ben, turn this into a place you’ll want to return to.

The art pieces are contemporary, weird and push the boundaries and are in a beautiful contrast with their surroundings. Talulah just told me she thought it was ‘an oasis of personality’.

I’m still finding out about who all the artists are but Ben was so welcoming that I won’t feel weird asking him about the art he curates.

If you have a spare while and you’re in the Greenwich area, I’d highly recommend you checking out the Ben Oakley Gallery.
