Nessy Recommends // Lexxa – Get Out

‘Get Out’ is right up my street. Maude and Julia Morris produce music as Lexxa. They also happen to be twins which thanks to biology, makes for lovely harmonies. 

‘Get Out’ has an eighties vibe that I adore. Those special little ‘pow pow’ percussive sounds, heavenly synths and guitar sounds are what my ears were made for.  The track builds and dips coming back to a huge choral refrain, which is a bit of an earworm. I’m not sure if these ladies have heard Shura’s music but theirs can slide right in alongside it in your record collection. It’s an absolute cracker.

‘Get Out’ is their second single and the follow up to ‘i got better friends now’ and the video was shot by Connor Pritchard.

Lexxa have been building a reputation in New Zealand and have been honing their craft including opening up for well known New Zealand and international touring acts as well as some shows in Australia. They’ve also been involved in a series of gigs run in at the Listen Showcase in Melbourne in June 2018.

LISTEN is a group who who promote the visibility and experiences of women, gender non-conforming and LGBTQIA+ people through live music showcase events.  Excellent work!
