Robbie Williams: Dublin Charity Concert Ticket Fiasco

FINAL UPDATE AT BOTTOM OF POST.

Lots of explaining to do with this. I applied for tickets for Robbie Williams‘ Charity Gig in The 02 in Dublin on September 14th and received this from tickets@robbiewilliams.com about twenty minutes ago. Mess, fiasco and lots of other relevant words come to mind.

I’ll be honest, before this I was quite psyched about seeing Robbie again. I’d just like to point out that at NO STAGE did I receive an email stating that I won tickets for Barrowlands in Glasgow. Here’s what I got today.

Dear Fan,

Ticketmaster regrets to inform you that due to a database error, you will have been advised that you were successful in the ticket ballot for the Robbie Williams performance at Glasgow Barrowland. However, this was incorrect as you actually applied for tickets for the Dublin concert.

As such, and in the interests of fairness to all Robbie Williams fans who applied for tickets for these two concerts, we have declared these ballots invalid and will be running them again shortly. You will receive the result of the new ballot by the end of today and we will be extending the booking period to midday on Friday 7th September to ensure you still get a fair chance to purchase.

Ticketmaster would like to sincerely apologise to Robbie and his fans for any disappointment and inconvenience caused. All ballot applicants will receive further communication shortly.

Here’s the first original email received earlier today:

Here’s the second email received today:

I’m not blaming Robbie or his team for this, it was obviously down to Ticketmaster to allocate the tickets. Hopefully they’ll get it sorted tonight or tomorrow and indeed give a large wad of cash to the charities that Robbie is playing the gigs for.

Update 21:58 And so finally tonight this came to its conclusion when I received this mail. Ah well, no Robbie for me next week.
