Isabelle lives in Antwerp and was chosen as a finalist in this year’s Atkins CIWEM Environmental Photographer of the Year so I thought it was a good opportunity to get her back and speak to her about her work.
Isabelle had entered a piece from a series, ‘Unsettled’, which she has been working on since 2007. We speak about the impact of the images in the exhibition which I saw at the Royal Geographical Society In Kensinton Gore here in London. The exhibition will now be in residence until November at The Forestry Commission in Grizdale in Cumbria until November 2014.
We also speak about ‘Unsettled’, which features Doel in Belgium, how and why Isabelle is still working on this project and what’s next for her. It’s a really interesting project as Doel is at the gateway to Antwerp harbour and the village of Doel has been drastically changed due to the industrialization of the area, forcing people to abandon their homes.
