Baz Luhrmann: The Great Gatsby Trailer

A trailer for Baz Luhrmann‘s adaption of F Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby has just been released. It’s fair to say that Luhrmann had doubters concerned about this adaptation and bout how he was filming in 3D. Going on this trailer, their fears will be put to rest.

The film seems to be still pure Luhrmann piece of work though, with Catherine Martin’s costume design beautifully taking over from where Moulin Rouge left off. The cityscape looks fantastic in the trailer, where in Moulin Rouge, the Paris rooftops were actually a set, it’s both interesting and a bit of sense if the same can be done using computer technology.

Your scribe has always been a fan of Luhrmann’s work and I love how he works with the same team over and over again, here with Craig Pearse on the screenplay and also with musician and musical genius Craig Armstrong.

The film stars Leonardo Di Caprio, Tobey Maguire, Carey Mulligan and Isla Fisher and will be released on December 26th.
