This looks interesting and not just the storyline. ‘A Better Life’ tells the story of a Dad who crossed the border in to the U.S. and still strives to gives his son a better life then he had. Starring Demián Bichir and José Julián (in only his second film) , it’s set in East L.A. where the Dad sets up a gardening business.
It’s directed by Chris Weitz, who also directed About a Boy and New Moon, which doesn’t rank high on my list, so I’m looking forward to seeing how Weitz can redeem himself. Seemingly, he was also a uncredited director on American Pie and has also been producer of In Good Company and A Single Man.
A Better Life opens exclusively in the IFI in Dublin on 29th July 2011.
