Take That: The Circus Live DVD

A couple of touring pop stars decided to go with a Circus theme in recent times, Britney Spears, Pink with her Funhouse could be umbrella’ed into that and finally Take That. I saw this tour live in May 2009 when Take That brought the show to Croke Park in Dublin.

It can be a bit hard sometimes to translate the excitement of a live show over to a TV screen. Sometimes DVDs lack because we can’t feel the buzz of actually being there, I feel that a little with this.

The Circus Live is really well edited and put together. Its not surprising that due to the Take Take phenomenon that has re-enveloped the British Isles over the past couple of years, on the first day of release ‘The Circus Live’ had become the fastest selling music DVD ever in the UK.

What I liked about the DVD was the bits you couldn’t see live, you could see up close.. where did they emerge from? What I didn’t like was the lack of behind the scenes footage that made the Ultimate Tour DVD so special.

Disc 2 gives you the opportunity to see the band stripped down, musically, no fancy dance routines or flashing lights. This shows the band as a talented unit, even the one they said couldn’t sing.

Gary Barlow, Mark Owen, Jason Orange and Howard Donald have turned into a proper man band, despite his own success, I’d say Robbie’s sick!
