dctvlogoThe good folk at DCTV have announced that they are making a new music series and are looking for your input and ideas! No point in complaining that there are not enough outlets to get heard, now’s your chance to put together a decent proposal and get heard!

Here’s the blurb…

Dublin Community Television (DCTV) in partnership with First Music Contact (FMC) have been funded by the Broadcasting Authority Of Ireland (BAI) to make a television series exploring Independent Music in Ireland and the different layers that make up this essential and fruitful community. The series looks at the labels , bands , collectives, promoters , bloggers and YOU!

We are currently looking for you, as bands and artists, to tell your story on how you operate as musicians now that the music industry has changed , the role you fulfill in the distribution of your music and your relationship with labels and promoters . We will profile on DCTV the artists or bands that are picked and will invite them to perform at a gig in Whelans in September. DCTV will film the gig and make a performance and interview video out of it which will be broadcast on the station to 500,000 homes nationwide as well as being available for your website/facebooks.

This project is in 4 phases 6 minutes of Independents shorts , a documentary and panel discussions ending in an on-going volunteer based music programme on DCTV !

We will pick six of the best stories submitted to be recorded in September. These will be picked from a panel of people involved in Independent Music including Angela Dorgan (FMC) , Niall Byrne (Nialler 9 Blog) , Michael Roe (Richter Collective). This will be overseen by Barry Lennon, the Producer and creator of this project. The closing date for apply to this will be Monday the 15th of August 2011.
