Today I had the pleasure of attending the launch of Culture Night earlier today in Dublin Castle. Minister Jimmy Deenihan who is Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht did the honours of launching the event.
The night will take place on Friday September 23rd and will take place across Ireland as well as in London and Leuvan in Belgium. A new website was also launched today culturenight.ie You can also find the guys on Facebook and Twitter.
Culture Night is a great chance to find out about free events that are happening in your area and it’s a chance to go have a look at or try something you wouldn’t normally do! Check out my post about my visit to Croke Park on Culture Night 2009
Today was a great opportunity to meet up with people from Arts Offices around the country and hopefully it will be the start of many great relationships with them. No doubt, you’ll hear some of the people I’ve met on Culture Cafe over the coming weeks.
Minister Deenihan praised Temple Bar Cultural Trust and mentioned that Temple Bar area has now become the buzzing cultural centre as was intended. He also made the great point that Ireland’s arts culture and heritage were now the vital things to attract tourists.
