This week was a really tough one for me. The heat was a killer with temperatures here in London getting up to and over 30°C. It was enough for me and my pasty Irish skin to buy a UV umbrella to try and get away from some of the sunlight. (Just got an idea for another blog post).
What people don’t tell you is that when you’re away on your holibobs, well, that’s lovely. But, when you’re trying to do your daily 9-5 it’s really tiring.
For these reasons, this week I decided to play some songs that remind me of summer, even though they may not have been released in summertime.

Faithless played their last gig in the Brixton Academy on April 8th. I wasn’t there, I was one of the people watching it via satellite in numerous cinemas across Europe.
Faithless have been the musical act that I consider ‘The one that got away’ I had never seen the band live and always wanted to. For some reason that never happened so I was going to have to settle for the next best thing. I was looking forward to this as I also had never seen a concert in cinema before so it was going to be a night of firsts.
I was a little surprised how empty Cineworld, Parnell St, Dublin was at 22.15, just fifteen minutes before the event was due to start. I also thought that seeing as it was a gig there might be some pumping tunes to keep us entertained before the show, we got a long orchestral version of, I think, the Star Trek theme.
Here’s where I wish I could split the experience into two. The Faithless experience and the cinema experience. Unfortunately the two are connected. Continue reading “Faithless: Pass The Baton Experience”
Looking at cinema listings, it’s becoming increasingly popular for bands to show concerts live or movie concerts, The Prodigy, Foo Fighters and JLS in 3D (why???) spring to mind. Now we can add Faithless to the list.
It’s a kind of good thing/bad thing though. Good because I love Faithless, Bad because it’s their last gig and I’ve never actually got to see them live for some reason.
The final gig of the ‘Pass The Baton’ tour will be beamed into cinemas through the magic of technology so we can dance our asses off and pay tribute to one of the best dance acts of the last 15 years. The gig will take place on April 8th in Brixton Academy which is a great venue!
You can check here for where you can watch in Ireland. I was wondering if we’d be able to get up and dance.. one site said ‘sitting may lead to a restricted view’.. I defy anyone to sit while this is on..
