Twenty Years Ago Today: Kevin Foley Became a Hero

Imagine, it was twenty years ago today when Kevin Foley scored a goal and David Beggy slotted over a point to end the now infamous Meath Vs Dublin saga of 1991. Over four games the two teams played for five hours and forty minutes and 237,000 people attended the games.

This was just a preliminary round game, Meath then drew with Wicklow, then beat Laois and Offaly in the Leinster Final. They played Roscommon in the All Ireland Semi but unfortunately lost to Down in the final – 1-16 to 1-14.
