Tune of the Tune 13/05/14 // The Common Linnets – Calm After The Storm

thecommonlinnets1I’ve always loved Eurovision, when I was 8 or 9, I told everyone I would take part in the Eurovision and I’d win it. That hasn’t happened but going on how Ireland’s entries have been over the past few years, you never know, I could still be in with a chance of representing the Emerald Isle.

Anyway, Conchita won, great song, great delivery, great dress! And yes, there is unfortunately a section of the world who just can’t mind their own business and let people get on with living their lives the way they want to. And to them I say, feck off, I’d rather not have you read my blog thanks.

The big surprise for me came in the semi finals when I heard the Netherlands’ entry for the first time. Subtle, delicate and what’s this? Country? In Eurovision. The Common Linnets are a two piece, Ilse DeLange and Waylon, from The Netherlands and may have stumbled into the limelight at just the right time, taking over the nu-old country vibe from The Civil Wars who have unfortunately parted ways.

Calm After The Storm finished second in this years Eurovision, and although available to download now, is getting a proper launch date of June 13th. Doesn’t really matter what date the record company plan on releasing this. Radio, as well as the music buying public will be all over this.

The track features absolutely gorgeous vocal performances and lyrics that will wrap around you like a blanket. Truly beautiful, Tune of the Week
