Competition: Win tickets to A.R. Gurney’s Love Letters at The Gaiety Theatre

love-lettersI have to admit, when I saw this my initial reaction was ‘Oh Wow’. The Mill Theatre, Dundrum and CTD in association with The Gaiety Theatre are bringing A.R. Gurney’s Love Letters to The Gaiety Theatre for one week only, from Monday 18th June – Saturday 23rd June. Here is the really cool part. This production is directed by Michael Scott and stars Jerry Hall and David Soul. How much more awesome can you pack into theatre?

Not familiar with who they are? Jerry Hall, is let’s face it, a legend having been involved in stage and screen productions including Tim Burton’s ‘Batman’ and also played ‘Mrs Robinson’ in The Graduate in the West End. She has appeared in Urban Cowboy, Let’s Spend The Night Together, Freejack and on telly in Married with Children, French and Saunders and hosted Saturday Night Live. If that wasn’t enough VH1 gave her her won reality TV show ‘Kept’.

So, who could play opposite the might Ms Hall and be able to live up to a reputation like that? David Soul, aka Hutch, from the original seventies television show ‘Starsky & Hutch’. He also appeared in Salem’s Lot and Magnum Force on the big screen. He is also responsible for the classic UK & US hits ‘Silver Lady’ and ‘Don’t Give Up On Us’. On stage, He’s been in Willy Russell’s Blood Brothers, played Jerry in Jerry Springer The Opera and Mack in Mack and Mabel.

Phew! So what’s Love Letters about then? A.R. Gurney’s Love Letters chronicles the relationship between Andy and Melissa solely through their letters, whose poignantly funny friendship and ill-fated romance takes them from Junior school through adolescence, dating,  maturity, and into middle age.  A smash hit on Broadway, this beautifully moving little gem of a show will warm your heart and delight you – a humorous, charming, delicate love story that will prove to be an exhilarating and touching night of theatre that will stay in the memory long after the performance ends.
