Bastille: Of The Night (Video)

BastilleOFTheNightBBC Radio 1’s Huw Stephens gave Bastille‘s new single it’s first official spin today. For fans of the band, it’s a live favourite and definitely worth putting a spotlight on the track. ‘Of the Night’, first appeared on Bastille’s mixtape Other People’s Heartache which was available as a free download. Take Snap!’s Rhythm is a Dancer add Corona’s Rhythm of the Night and a splash of Bastille and you have ‘Of the Night’.

I recently spoke to Dan Smith from Bastille and mentioned how many singles the band had released from their debut, so far it’s six. So, to release Of the Night in the Uk /Ireland is a good interlude and lets the US market catch up with the life of the Bad Blood before the band start proper work on a second album.

Does the fact that it’s a cover bother me? No, not a bit. When Bastille did the round of gigs in support of Flaws they played ‘Of the Night’. When I saw them in Academy 2 in Dublin, the venue exploded into what I described as ‘dance central’. It was awesome!

Yes, I think we all get that I love the band. Anyway, the video looks great, with some great cinematography and grading and a fantastically effect narrative.
