Tune of the Week 07/01/2014: Kodaline – One Day

KodalineIt’s just the first week of the year and already things are looking good for Kodaline. Their UK & Ireland tour in March has sold out and their album ‘In A Perfect World’ has gone double platinum in Ireland and the big news, they’re on Jonathon Ross on Saturday night!

Kodaline are also off to the US for a tour where they will be supported by LP. And all the Irish in Oz will love to hear that March/April will see the lads head to Australia and New Zealand for a string of dates. Hope they’ve big cases, that’s a lot of socks and underwear to pack!

In the lead up to all this, they’ve also unveiled a new version of the opening track from their album ‘One Day’, which will be released as a single. The track was reworked by the band along with Cenzo Townshend who has also worked with The Vaccines, Snow Patrol and U2. This rework/re-edit really lifts the song and gives it an extra kick of energy. So I’m making this Tune of the Week for two reasons, this track sounds huge now, it’s really really good. Reason number 2, it takes a lot for an artist to revisit for work, it’s a hard task, especially when that track is the opener on your album. Everyone who has it, will immediately identify with the original. But Kodaline have taken something that was already good and made it better. Hats off!

This new version will be Kodaline’s next single and will be released on February 17th.
