The London Ear on RTE 2XM // Show 185 // St. Patrick’s Weekend Preview

We had no show last week due to the adverse weather conditions in Ireland. People’s safety obviously has to come first and while I was finishing off the show in London, my Dublin based colleagues got the word to get home while it was still safe to do so. But.. we’re back!

So St. Patrick’s Day is next Saturday and to be honest, I could do a radio show six hours long and still not enough to cover all the Irish events happening in London next weekend. So this week’s episode of The London Ear is a little preview of some of the events happening..

BITA - British and Irish Trade Alliance

Interview with Paul Whitnell, President and Founder of the British and Irish Trade Alliance (BITA)

I met Paul a few months ago and was quite impressed by what he has done since moving to the UK in 2012.

Paul set up BITA helping SMEs in Britain and Ireland trade with each other, across the two nations. So it’s not just for Irish people but for people from the UK too.

BITA are also one of the stakeholders involved in getting the St Patrick’s Festival and Parade together in London.

You can find out more about BITA on their website, Facebook and Twitter.

Aoife Moiselle - Director ‘Consent’

Interview with Aoife Moiselle, Director of ‘Consent’

Aoife Moiselle is a recent graduate of IADT and co Director of ‘Consent’. Consent is a 4 minute animated film and its inclusion in the St Patrick’s Film Festival, comes at quite a relevant time, with the #MeToo campaign’s prevalence in the media.

The short will be screen on Friday afternoon in the London Film School in a FREE programme which will also feature ‘Guard’, Jonathan Harden and Bronagh Taggart’s film, which has also been featured on The London Ear.

The St. Patrick’s Film Festival is part of Irish Film London. You can check out the full programme here on their website.

You can follow Aoife Moiselle’s very stylish feed on Instagram.

Pillow Queens - nessymon

Interview with Rachel from Pillow Queens

Pillow Queens are a Dublin based band and I was delighted to finally get to chat to one of the band. It seems that in the past year, Pillow Queens’ profile is rising all the time. Drummer, Rachel Lyons, joined me on the show to chat about life in the band and their new EP.

Pillow Queens play ‘Oiche Eile’ in the Irish Cultural Centre in Hammersmith on Friday 16th. They also have two gigs in London on St. Patrick’s Day, as part of Music from Ireland’s ‘All Female Music Trail’ at Camden Market at 15.40. Later on, at 18.00, you can catch Pillow Queens in ‘Dr Marten’s Boot Room in Camden Market.

You can find out more about Pillow Queens on their website, Facebook and Twitter.
