The London Ear on RTE 2XM nessymon

On today’s show, I was delighted to catch up with two people I haven’t seen in a long long time. So long I didn’t even recognise Gary McGuinness or the fact that our lives had crossed paths many years ago. Gary was a member of a band that played on nights I had organised in The Voodoo Lounge in Dublin circa 2002 ish.

Simon Lewis is long time family friend but I haven’t seen or spoken to him in years. Yet, through Facebook, we’ve managed to keep up to date with each other.

Chat with poet Simon Lewis

First up was poet Simon Lewis. Simon had his first book of poetry, Jewtown, published by Doire Press in 2016. He was winner of the Hennessy Prize for Poetry 2015.

He is coming to London on February 26th to read his poetry at King’s Place, near King’s Cross as part of Jewish Book Week.

You can find out more about Simon on his website and you can follow Simon on Twitter

Dubliner, Gary McGuiness is front man of rock band, The Survival Code. They’ve recently recently released their ‘Broken Strings’ EP. We chat about their single ‘One’ taken from the EP and what it’s like being in a band in a transient city like London.
