The institution that is known as The Saw Doctors, always seem to have a story for every occasion. Following their Christmas smash, Downtown, with Petula Clark where they came close to swiping the Christmas Number One from The Cowell Factor, they return with Indian Summer.
You know what you’re going to get with The Saw Doctors, they’ve created a genre of music just for themselves. This mid tempo track features some subtle string arrangements which lift the track beautifully. Again as with their previous releases, the observations and story telling that The Saw Doctors manage to capture in musical form is something quite unique to them.
This is a re-release but if we do happen to get some good weather in our little rock, this could be the soundtrack to the summer.
Yes, I know it’s hard to believe, someone is giving me the microphone to go nationwide on 2FM this Sunday night. I’ll be back on after 10 pm as 2XM invades 2FM for the night. It’ll be a good un!
I’ll be chatting to Chris from Our Krypton Sun, Daniel Spencer from animation group,Pegbar.ie and to Leo Moran from the Saw Doctors and I’ll be playing a few festival tunes! Sunday night, after 10pm, 2fm…me!
‘Be Yourself’ is the third single to be taken from ‘The Further Adventures of…’ and will be released on July 8th. It’s a midtempo track with all the trademarks of the Tuam band.
The Saw Doctors have a bit of a knack for a couple of things one of them in particular shines through on this tracks. Through their lyrics, they seem to be able look at the smaller picture of life, the little things (which turn out to be big things) and here this enables them to deliver a parently type of advice.
Hear this a couple of times, you’ll be singing it all day!
The band have also announced a series of gigs around Ireland for the remainder of 2011, starting off with two FREE gigs!! Dublin is first up with a gig this Sunday, June 19th in the Dublin Civic Offices. It’s part of the Mayo Alive Festival and did I say it’s Free?
The second one is on June 26th in Enniscorthy Co.Wexford, part of the Wexford Strawberry Fest.. That’s a Free gig too! What more could you want? After seeing the band earlier this year in The Olympia, I can tell you, you’re in for a good time.
