It was with shock and sadness last night that I learned off the passing of Derek Nally, music promoter, band manager and music entrepreneur.
Derek was responsible for bookings and promotions in legendary venue, Whelans and was also band manager of Juliet Turner and Kells band Ham Sandwich.
I first met Derek when I was working in Trend Studios, I was making production masters for Juliet’s cracking album Burn the Black Suit. I got to know Derek a bit better after Trend and we had several coffees and chats. Listening to Derek’s music knowledge and expertise was amazing. He had such a passion for music and was so helpful to so many bands.
I last met Derek two weeks ago, he was sitting beside us at Elvis Costello’s gig. My condolences to Derek’s wife and children.
We’ve lost a great.
