Competition: Blood Brothers at The Gaiety

bloodbrothers

The lovely folk at The Gaiety have given me a pair of tickets so one of you can see Blood Brothers this Thursday, June 9th.

All you have to do is leave a comment below and sure why not like my Facebook page while you’re at it! Competition closes on Tuesday June 7th at 3 p.m.

If you’re not familiar with Blood Brothers, it has won four Best Musical awards in London and was nominated for seven Tony awards, so it’s well worth seeing.

Blood Brothers tells the captivating and moving story of twin boys separated at birth, only to be reunited by a twist of fate and a mother’s haunting secret. The memorable score includes A Bright New Day, Marilyn Monroe and the emotionally charged hit Tell Me It’s Not True.

Starring Rebecca Storm, Ireland’s leading lady of musical theatre. This same show catapulted her into the world of musical theatre over 17 years ago when she won the title role of Mrs Johnstone at the age of 23.

Willy Russell is undeniably one of this country’s leading contemporary dramatists. His countless credits include Educating Rita and Shirley Valentine. Educating Rita, originally commissioned by the Royal Shakespeare Company, enjoyed a two year run in the West End and was made into a movie starring Michael Caine and Julie Walters. Shirley Valentine also made the move from stage to screen in an enormously popular film starring Pauline Collins and Tom Conti.

Blood Brothers is directed by Bob Tomson and Bill Kenwright with designs by Andy Walmsley. Nick Richings is the lighting designer and Rod Edwards the production musical director.

this is an extraordinary moving musical, mixing joy and sadness in equal measure.it moves you to think about your own life, the importance of family and friends and how fragile this life is and how fleeting.grab every day and live it to its limit.nurture your retionships and always remember what is the most important things in your life, not possessions and money but warm caring relationships.

Not a fan of musical theatre per se but I make an exception for Blood Brothers. 10 yrs ago I saw it in the West End & bought the cd with Rebecca Storm signing. I’ve never been lucky enough to see Ms. Storm perform the role live so this would be a wonderful opportunity.
