Agatha Christie’s ‘Murder on The Nile’ comes to The Gaiety Theatre

MurderOnTheNileI was really exciting when I heard this, I’ve never seen ‘Murder on The Nile’ and it was definitely on my to do list, now it’s coming to The Gaiety Theatre for a short run from Monday 29th October to Saturday 3rd of November. I’ve also learned two things today, it’s the 65th Anniversary Production of Murder on The Nile and there’s an official Agatha Christie Theatre Company and it is they who are presenting this production.. there ye go!

Murder on the Nile stars star KATE O’MARA, prolific stage actress and star of television hits including Dynasty and Bad Girls, as ‘Miss Ffoliot-Ffoulkes’, SUSIE AMY, star of 71 Degrees North and Footballers’ Wives, as ‘Kay Mostyn’, BEN NEALON, fondly remembered as Capt Jeremy Forsythe from the long running ITV drama Soldier Soldier, as ‘Simon Mostyn’, and 60’s pop idol, MARK WYNTER as ‘Dr Bessner’. From 27 August 2012, they are joined by ROBERT DUNCAN, prolific stage actor and star of the television hit Drop the Dead Donkey, who will star as ‘Canon Pennefather’.

On board a steamer, cruising under the scorching Egyptian sun, honeymooners Simon Mostyn and his wealthy socialite wife Kay find themselves being pursued by an old flame of the newly wedded groom. Tragedy strikes and a body is discovered, all fingers point to Simon’s ex fiancée. However, everything is not what it seems and holidaying cleric Canon Pennefather is drawn into a web of intrigue and deceit as he finds himself on the trail of a ruthless murderer.

Agatha Christie’s stage adaptation of the novel Death on the Nile was first performed in 1944 under the title Hidden Horizon; it later opened in the West End and on Broadway as Murder on the Nile in 1946.

Murder on the Nile follows the hugely successful; The Hollow, The Unexpected Guest, And Then There Were None, Spider’s Web, Witness For The Prosecution, and Verdict,. This latest instalment from The Official Agatha Christie Theatre Company directed by JOE HARMSTON promises a host of colourful characters and all the twists and turns of a classic Christie to keep you guessing to the final shattering climax.
